What should be done when the blue smoke appears in the exhaust?

Blue smoke indicates the presence of oil in the combustion chamber, which is usually a result of worn piston rings or valves (valve seats), or clogged oil vapor vent.

Possible causes of the problem:

  • dirty air filter
  • blockage or leakage in the oil inlet/outlet of turbocharger
  • resistance (blockage) or leakage in the exhaust line, prior to turbine
  • dirty compressed air cooler (intercooler)
  • damage or wear of the turbocharger vital parts
  • wear of rotor and bearings
